HUGO BURNAND

Hugo Burnand is a world-famous portrait photographer celebrated for encapsulating the essence of iconic personalities across all avenues of life. Famous for portraying royalty, world leaders, celebrities, and society in general, he is equally famous for snapping images at society weddings and celebrity parties.

Burnand has been associated with Condé Nast for many years, working especially for Tatler and House & Garden magazines. His subjects have included Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Baroness Thatcher, Lucian Freud, Victoria Beckham, and Michael Jackson.

Holding a Royal Warrant since 2010 from Prince Charles, Burnand has photographed some of the most important moments in royal history. He acted as the photographer at the marriage of HRH Prince of Wales to Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005 and the following wedding in 2011 of HRH Prince William to Catherine Middleton. He also received commissions to do official portraits of Prince Charles, now known as King Charles III, to mark his 60th and 70th birthday celebrations.

In 2023, he made history by photographing the first digitally recorded coronation, which captured King Charles III's ascent to the throne. More recently, His Royal Highness King Charles III has granted him a Royal Warrant, making him the first-ever official royal portrait photographer for the British Royal Family.

Beautifully born in Cannes, France, in the Swinging Sixties, Hugo Burnand learned to develop and print photographs at home under the influence of his mother, the photographer Ursy Burnand. His dedication to his craft and his unique ability to capture history through the eye of his camera have settled upon him the legacy of being one of this generation's greatest portrait photographers.
